Jennifer Lawrence is a lot of things: uncompromising indie-film ingénue, badass blockbuster heroine, gloriously unfiltered quote machine.

But one thing she isn't? An Abercrombie & Fitch model.

The Silver Linings Playbook actress revealed to Conan O'Brien on his show Tuesday that she was ultimately passed over for a modeling gig with the clothing giant.

But that's not the clincher: Lawrence had actually already booked the job, but when she finally showed up to do the photo shoot, things went pretty bust.

Here's how it went down: Apparently, Lawrence and the rest of the models were posing for a mock football setup.

And, in a prescient sign of the kind of, uh, consuming commitment she'd later bring to her lauded film roles, she literally dove into the part.

"There's this one picture where this girl's just about to catch this football," the 22-year-old tells O'Brien, "and behind her, I'm, like, flared nostrils, red face, my hair's crazy and I'm mid-air—raaaaah!" Lawrence then breaks into a screeching roar.

That didn't sit too well with the other model: "At one point she screamed, 'Get her away from me!'" Lawrence recalls.

When her agent finally emailed ad honchos to ask why the budding star didn't make it into the campaign, Lawrence says that "instead of answering with any words or explanation, they just sent over the photos."

Hey, can't slam the girl for getting into character. At least her Method approach is serving her well these days: Lawrence is considered the heavy favorite to win the Best Actress statuette at the Oscars later this month.

Take that, Abercrombie & Fitch.
