Ouch. Wonder if the Smash people could use a little drinking game after seeing the ratings, eh?

Smash's season-two premiere seriously underperformed in the ratings last night, bringing in a series-low average of 4.5 million viewers and a 1.1 demo rating. In comparison, its lead-in, Betty White's 2nd Annual 90th Birthday Special, brought in 6 million viewers. So, there's that.

Smash's season-one finale drew 6 million viewers, meaning last night's premiere saw a 25 percent drop. And if you compare it to the series debut last year (11.4 million), the season two opener plummeted a whopping 60 percent. "Yikes" is the word you are looking for.

So what does that mean for Smash? It means the ratings better see an uptick and fast. This show is far too expensive to make for ratings like last night.
