UPDATE: After being evaluated, Lindsey Vonn was released from a nearby hospital. According to U.S. Ski Team Medical Director Kyle Wilken, Vonn suffered a torn ACL and MCL in her right knee and a lateral tibial plateau fracture. She will be out for the remainder of this season, but is expected to return to racing for the 2013-14 Audi FIS World Cup season and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
Skier Lindsey Vonn was taken to a hospital after crashing during the super-G event on opening day of the Alpine World Championships in Schladming, Austria, on Tuesday.
The Olympic gold medalist injured her right knee after she lost her ski following a tough landing and slid off course into a gate, according to reports.
The Los Angeles Times noted the race Vonn was involved in had already been postponed 3 1/2 hours due to fog and that she was not the only one who struggled due to inclement weather conditions.
No word yet on the extent of Vonn's injuries.
Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
