Mickey Rourke Not Dead, Just Latest Online Hoax Victim

Mickey Rourke is joining an exclusive club—and it's not the celebrity boxing league.

The Expendables star is just the latest famous person to fall victim to a death hoax after a false report spread like wildfire online that the 60-year-old Rourke had died in a snowboarding accident in Switzerland.

His agent, David Unger at ICM, confirmed to the New York Post that, in fact, the Golden Globe-winning actor is doing just fine.

"[Mickey] is very touched by the outpouring of concern, and is alive and well in Beverly Hills," Unger told the paper. "I have been getting condolence calls from all over the world. But I can confirm that Mickey is very alive."

Of course, as E! News investigated a couple of years ago, the rumor originated with the notorious pranking site, Global Associated News, which generates fake news reports of Hollywood stars kicking the bucket—usually via freak snowboarding mishaps in the Swiss Alps (see Eddie Murphy Denzel Washington), falling off a cliff in New Zealand (Jeff Goldblum, Tony Danza) or dying in a car crash (Usher).

Rourke meanwhile has been keeping busy, having just wrapped filming on the Sin City sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
