"When I did the movie, I had just decided to get divorced myself," the 43-year-old actress and mother of twins told USA Today. "I felt in that low place. It was the worst time in my life, as well. (Emme and Max) didn't know anything. They're starting to figure it out now, a year and a half later. They were just 3 at the time."
Of course, she's referring to her split from Marc Anthony. The two decided to call it quits back in July of 2011, just one month after celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary.
Soon after the breakup, Lopez began dating dancer Casper Smart. They've been an item since October 2011 and it appears the former American Idol judge couldn't be happier.
"He's a nice person. My life is really good right now," she said. "I'm at a point where I'm able to make decisions based on what I really want to do. I'm making decisions based on what I feel, which is never wrong no matter what the outcome is."
