American Idol Alum Danny Gokey Welcomes Son

Reality show's season eight finalist and his wife celebrate birth of their first child Sunday

Danny Gokey is on diaper duty!

The 32-year-old American Idol season eight finalist and his wife Leyicet Peralta welcomed their first child together, Daniel Emanuel Gokey Sunday night, according to People.

"Its Official, I'm a daddy!!!" Gokey tweeted Sunday.

"Leyicet and I are overjoyed to welcome the new member of our family," the doting father told the mag. "I'm ecstatic to be a first time dad and to have a new little buddy to hang out with."

Gokey and Peralta wed Jan. 29, 2012, in an intimate ceremony in Florida attended by about one hundred guests.

This is the second marriage for the reality star, whose first wife suffered form a heart condition and died during routine surgery a month before his American Idol audition.
