Prince Albert of Monaco has a bone to pick with Grace of Monaco.

The late Grace Kelly's son, along with Monaco's royal family, has come out swinging against the upcoming biopic of the beloved Hollywood icon, starring Nicole Kidman, for what they perceive as its "historical untruths."

Per the BBC, Monaco's royal palace has released a statement decrying the film after producers reportedly claimed that they had the family's backing.

Nicole Kidman channels Grace Kelly in biopic—does she pull it off?

"The Princely family wishes to emphasise that this film is by no means a biopic," the palace said, ripping the project for being a pastiche of "major historical untruths and a series of purely fictional scenes."

The palace says that the royal family approached producers with requests for changes after receiving a draft of the script, but that not all those changes were made.

"It recounts one rewritten and needlessly 'glamorised' page in the history of the Principality of Monaco and its family," the statement notes, adding that "The Palace of Monaco cannot accept that the producers of this film imply they have received Their Highnesses' support in any way whatsoever, since this is not the case."

Nicole Kidman takes on Grace Kelly's royal role in Grace of Monaco

Grace of Monaco takes place during a six-month period in 1962 when the new princess helps save the city-state from a French coup, and the film is touting itself not as a biopic per se but as a snapshot of a moment in the late icon's remarkable life.

Grace of Monaco hits theaters in 2014.
