While black was undoubtedly a popular choice for red carpet gowns, a few celebs added a little visual interest to their dark dresses with gorgeous gold embellishments.
From glittery sequins to dazzling beadwork, leading ladies lent their looks a Midas touch. Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson both dazzled in gorgeous Alexander McQueen gowns with gold embroidery. Kidman's gown featured a scattering of gold bee embroidering along the neckline, while Hudson stunned in a streamlined dress festooned with a gilded neckline and belt.
And then there was Helen Mirren, who proved this trend works for women of all ages with her divine Badgley Mischka gown that featured gold beadwork along the sleeves, as well as the waistline and bodice. We saw more examples of the bold black and gold trend long after the last award of the evening was handed out; Vanessa Hudgens hit the InStyle and Warner Bros. afterparty in a sparkling Jenny Packham dress topped with golden detailing along the shoulders and plunging neckline.
