Kate Moss, Drunken Catwalker

Waif poster girl, recovering from alcohol and marijuana abuse, says she spent many a workday smashed

Going by one of those Department of Motor Vehicle blood-alcohol charts, it should take only a thimble-full of booze to get model Kate Moss loaded.

Yet despite her notoriously waifish build, Moss admits to the British magazine The Face that she was no lightweight when it came to champagne and marijuana. In fact, until entering a London addiction recovery clinic in November, the 25-year-old Calvin Klein model claims she hadn't been sober on the catwalk for more than 10 years.

"Things got out of control," says the British-born Moss, who spent five weeks at the clinic and now reportedly attends Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings (the latter presumably for her pot problem--her camp denied rumors last November that she had a heroin problem.) "I kind of lost the plot, really, there for a little bit. I don't want to go back to how I was."

When her afflictions got bad, Moss explains, she was regularly getting goofed up on bubbly and pot with her model pals before fashion shows...at 10 in the morning. And when things got really, really bad, Moss says, she'd carry a hip flask to photo shoots. (Evidently, Moss does have hips.)

She also says she started drinking and toking at the tender age of 12, often on her way to school in south London.

Finally, last fall, blaming a transcontinental, New York-to-India partying spree, Moss sought help, explaining to the press at the time that she was merely exhausted.

As for how things are going now, the pinup tells the magazine: "I'm sober. I'm single. I have great friends. I like my job. I'm not stupid."
