Anchorman 2 Heist: Thief Makes Off With $300,000 Worth of Stuff From Atlanta Set

Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Anchorman Dreamworks

It's a story worthy of a Ron Burgundy-style special investigation.

Over the holidays an enterprising thief broke into a warehouse in northwest Atlanta—being rented out by Paramount to film scenes from Will Ferrell's Anchorman: The Legend Continues—and stole $300,000 worth of copper wire.

    Read the police report

Per the police report obtained by E! News, the intruder gained entry through a rear garage door and in addition to the wire got away with four Apple computers as well, two of them Macbooks.

"It's a shame this happened because Atlanta is really trying to get big in the film industry," the building's owner, Davis Nort, told WSB-TV, who became aware of the theft after meeting with the cable company at the location to fix a router that had gone off line.

The local Fox affiliate quoted the building's landlord as saying there were two break-ins—the first occurring around Christmastime and the second on New Year's Day just before producers of the Will Ferrell comedy were due to start production in the city.

Anchorman 2 gets a release date

A $5,000 reward is being offered for its safe return.

The studio declined to discuss the matter while a spokesman for the Atlanta Police Department did not return a phone call seeking comment.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues is slated to theaters on Dec. 20, 2013.
