When most people head to court, they hope for Lady Luck to be on their side. Well, Lindsay Lohan's got Lady Fortune.
The embattled starlet was not present in New York court this morning, but her attorney did show up for the latest round in her misdemeanor assault case, stemming from a nightclub bust-up on Nov. 29, and said that he believed his client—who was not required to and thus did not show up in court—would ultimately be cleared of the charges.
And he was backed by a pretty potent power: a psychic fortune teller.
"It may very well be this case does not move forward...ironically a psychic fortune teller has predicted the year 2013 will be an extremely lucky year for Lindsay Lohan," her attorney Mark Heller told reporters before leaving court.
Um, the defense rests?
As it happens, it was an extremely short trip to court, as Heller did not even go before a judge, rather into a private room in the courthouse. No criminal complaint has yet been drawn up and no accusatory document prepared (thus no need for LiLo), but Heller's presence was required to sign some paperwork pertaining to the case.
The Liz and Dick star is accused of hitting Tiffany Mitchell at Avenue nightclub the night of Nov. 29, where she was hanging with the Wanted, and was arrested the same night. Her lawyer has long maintained her innocence, telling reporters Monday that a new witness "not related to Lindsay or the club" came forward as "a good citizen" and told the district attorney the actress made "no contact" with Heller.
"Of course Lindsay is pleased with the thorough job that the district attorney's office is doing," Heller said, adding that he hopes his client will be "totally exonerated."
