Can you believe in Hollywood there is such a thing as being too pretty?

Shameless star Emmy Rossum ran into that problem while auditioning for the role of Fiona in the Showtime series. "They didn't want to see me; they wouldn't even [let me] audition," Rossum tells Manhattan magazine, which features the 26-year-old on the cover this month. "They thought my image was too glamorous, that I couldn't not be pretty."

As you can tell from our exclusive first look at the flawless photos of Rossum, she is definitely both glamourous and pretty. But she wouldn't let that fact stop her from going after the Shameless role she fell in love with. She made a tape of herself as Fiona for the producers, and after three more auditions, the part was hers. Now entering its third season on Showtime, Shameless will predictably be as unpredictable as last season.

And for those guys lining up to take Rossum out to dinner, you better not count any chickens before they hatch. "Fiona is very sexually liberated. She's also a loudmouth, and there's safety in that," Rossum says in the mag. "But I'm not the sex-on-the-first-date kind of girl." She is, however, the kind of girl who will stick by you, admitting that she identifies with Fiona's loyalty "sometimes to a fault."
