Jack Klugman, the legendary Emmy-winning and Tony-nominated comedic actor, has passed away at the age of 90, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

His wife Peggy tells KABC-TV that he died on the afternoon of Christmas Eve at their home in Northridge. Calif. The actor was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1974, which caused him to lose a vocal cord in the late 1980s. The official cause of death is unknown at this time.

Klugman is best known for his role as Oscar Madison (the "messy" roommate) on the '70s sitcom The Odd Couple, for which he won two Emmys, and for his starring role on Quincy, M.E. He also made many appearances on the cult classic series The Twilight Zone. His film roles includes 12 Angry Men, Days of Wine and Roses and Goodbye, Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, sons David and Adam, and two grandchildren.
