Jenni Rivera may be gone, but she has certainly not been forgotten.

The Mexican-American singer, who died tragically earlier this month, was remembered at a memorial service on Wednesday at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.

Thousands of fans joined family members of the beloved entertainer to celebrate her life through words and song as Rivera's red casket sat onstage.

Not surprising, there was not a dry eye in the place as Rivera's five children each spoke fondly about their mother, most notably, her youngest, 11-year-old son Johnny.

"I only had 11 short years with my mom. But it's a real honor to say that Jenni Rivera is my mom. That she still lives in me," he said, fighting back tears. "This is the hardest thing I've ever had to go through in my life, but I am happy to say my mother has moved on and she's finally happy."

Rivera's 21-year-old son Michael noted in his eulogy that "we're not here to mourn the death. We're here to celebrate the life and graduation of a singer, an entertainer, a diva, a fighter, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and more than anything, a mother. The best mother." He then asked for 27 seconds of silence to remember the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Rivera's brothers and sisters also spoke lovingly about their sibling, with one saying "Jenni made it OK for women to be who they are. Jenni also made it OK to be from nothing with the hopes of being something."

Mexican singers Marco Antonio Solis, Joan Sebastian and Ana Gabriel were among those in attendance at the service that was billed a "celestial graduation" by Rivera's loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, Rivera's family has requested that donations be made to the Jenni Rivera Love Foundation, in additon to a single white rose.

Rivera passed away Dec. 9 after the plane carrying the singer and her entourage crashed after taking off from Monterrey, Mexico. She was 43.
