Jacintha Saldanha has been laid to rest.

Just a week after Kate Middleton's nurse committed suicide after she unwittingly transferred a prank call from two Australian radio hosts, thousands gathered to mourn her life at her funeral Monday in Shirva, India.

Nearly 2,000 people attended the service held at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church prior to Saldanha's private burial, according to the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph

The nurse, who was a mother of two, left specific instructions for her funeral in one of the three suicide notes that were later found.

Saldanha's husband, Benedict Barboza, paid tribute to his late wife during a mass at Westminster Cathedral in London Saturday, telling attendees, "I feel a part of me has been ripped out," per The Guardian.

Barboza and the couple's son, 17-year-old Junal, were at the head of Saldanha's coffin as it was taken into the church.

Saldanha was found hanged in her quarters at King Edward VII Hospital in London on Dec. 7, three days after falling for the now-infamous hoax.
