Did we just lose all of our geek cred? Because according to this photo, J.R.R. Tolkien apparently invented Jedi Knights decades before George Lucas was even born, and we had no idea. Thanks, Cate Blanchett, for wearing a Princess Leia-meets-young-Obi-Wan costume to the premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and shaking our dweebish souls to their very core.

Oh, and thank you to Givenchy, for creating this getup, thus providing hours and hours of arguments in comic book shops around the planet.

In case you're wondering where the light saber is: They're actually pretty compact, and that Givenchy clutch is a pretty generous size.
