Pippa Middleton Cheekily Takes On Celebrate Book Critics, Jokingly Plans Sequel, Bottoms Up

When it comes to her critics, Pippa Middleton has opted to turn the other cheek. However, it looks like she kept her tongue firmly in it.

Kate Middleton's little sis has, well, cheekily answered back to those who poked fun at her party-planning book, Celebrate, penning an editorial in The Spectator that both answered the haters and gamely poked fun at her own admitted mockability.

Oh, we are very much amused. Nice to see she doesn't mind being the, um, butt of some jokes.

Proving she has as much of a sense of humor about herself as anyone, Prince William's sister-in-law and the royal aunt-to-be was the guest writer of the British weekly magazine's diary pages. While she was ostensibly enlisted to provide holiday party tips to readers, she took time out to address criticism that her book, which performed admirably though short of its much hyped expectations, is rather bare-bones.

"I have been much teased for my book, Celebrate," she wrote. "Lots of journalists are saying that my advice is glaringly obvious...A spoof Twitter accounts called @pippatips offers such pearls as, 'Enjoy a glass of water by getting a clean glass and pouring in water from a tap or bottle.'

"It's all good fun, I know, and I realize that authors ought to take criticism on the chin. But in my defense, let me say this: Celebrate is meant to be a guide to party planning and, as such, it has to cover the basics. If I were to write a cookery book, for instance, I would be compelled to say that, to make an omelette, you have to break at least one egg."

Oh, hang on.

"Actually, that's not a bad idea," she playfully continued. "Or maybe I should write a sequel and call it Bottoms Up? Now that could be bestseller."

As it happens, a sense of humor seems to run in the blood, as she also revealed a Middleton family Christmas tradition.

"My father has developed a tradition of surprising us at some point by appearing in fancy dress," she wrote (costumes to us Yanks). "A couple of Christmases ago, he appeared in an inflatable sumo outfit. It's endearing, really, and only quite embarrassing."

Oh, we're sure Wills' side of the family has some kooky rituals of their own.
