UPDATE: An executive who was selling the private plane that caused Rivera's death told the Los Angeles Times the singer was in the final stages of purchasing the aircraft. Nuñez said the plane was well-maintained, and he believes the 78-year-old pilot suffered a heart attack or was incapacitated in some way, which caused the fatal crash.

Jenni Rivera's family, friends and fans still don't have all the details about the Mexican-American singer's tragic death.

On Tuesday, however, Mexican transportation officials revealed that the plane carrying Rivera and six other passengers "practically nose-dived" and that the "impact must have been terrible."

Although the cause of the crash has yet to be determined, Mexican businessman Christian E. Esquino Nuñez is reportedly wanted for questioning because of his ties to the plane, per ABC News.

Rivera's family hopes she is still alive

Nuñez has been convicted of falsifying aircraft records, counterfeiting government inspection stamps and drug-trafficking, court records show. Nuñez, who heads the management company responsible for the Learjet that crashed Sunday, allegedly forged his planes' logbooks and altered records used to sell those aircraft, per court documents obtained by ABC News.

The jet in which Rivera was traveling was not one of the aircraft cited in a 2005 lawsuit against Nuñez. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
