Lady Gaga is causing problems for Barbra Streisand.

Well, not exactly, but Streisand says she spoke too soon when she recently revealed she was talking to Gaga about costarring in a new movie adaption of the legendary musical.

When I caught up with Babs yesterday at the press junket for her latest comedy, The Guilt Trip, she said she "got into trouble for mentioning" the Gaga casting in a recent interview with Time magazine.

She simply explained, "It was an idea."

Reports have been rampant that Streisand has plans to star in and direct the film. However, she said yesterday, "I don't know if I would direct it. I'm not sure about that."

She is producing the project with Joel Silver. Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes is reportedly writing the script. "I hope it comes to fruition," Streisand said.

And so do we.

The Guilt Trip (in theaters Dec. 19) is sweet and fun comedy flick costarring Seth Rogen as an organic chemist who drives across the country with his sometimes overbearing mother (Streisand).

"We got along right away," Rogen said. "I think the rapport was pretty immediate. I think we both kind of got each other."
