Fake people—don't like them. Fake boobs—don't have them. Fake fur—get familiar, because faux fur has come a long, long way!

I'm happy to admit that you can lump me in with the legion of Hollywood ladies who will only wear faux fur: Charlize Theron, Jessica Alba, and Eva Mendes to name a few.

It's certainly not that celebrities can't afford real fur, but some are exercising their moral muscle and standing against atrocities that our beloved animals are forced to endure. But I digress.

The stellar news is that designer faux fur has never been more luxurious or accessible. My absolute favorite comes from LA-based designer B Sable (Nicki Minaj, Kourtney Kardashian and Nicole Richie are also fans). I snagged my first black faux fur last winter. I can wear it straight from the E! offices out to dinner and beyond. I went back for more this year.

I'm ub-sessed with the Chelsea Jacket in silver feather. It's kind of an in your face, obnoxious faux fur, but that's precisely why I love it. I can throw it on over a tee and skinny jeans, and roll straight out the door to an event or dinner with friends. (This is not the fur I wear to take my kids to school, however. Let's be clear.)

Several top designers have stellar offerings: Michael Kors, Rebecca Minkoff and Rachel Roy.

For me, Rachel Zoe is doing it the absolute best. Although she is known for wearing the real stuff, she has designed an array of cuts, prints, and textures for consumers that seem to be on the pulse of what's hot right now.

But friends, if budget is your bottom line, try Top Shop. They have a wide variety—from wild to basic—that will deliver right to your doorstep and not break the bank. The rocker in me likes this multi-colored one here.

When it comes to wearing fur, there really aren't any rules of the game. Just go fake, but be real.
