X Factor judge takes to social media to decry media coverage of LiLo's latest downfall

Lindsay Lohan is getting some much-needed support in the wake of her latest headline-grabbing arrest and late-night antics from someone who's all too familiar with the media's fascination with the private lives of young stars: Demi Lovato.

The X Factor judge took to Twitter last night to serve as one of the lone voices of defense for LiLo following the actress's arrest for assault.

Demi's message? Back off, haters.

"I really wish we could go back in time when artists were known for their work," Lovato tweeted. "Not their personal lives."

"The media (not just you) don't realize when you need to stop," she continued, directing a portion of her comments toward blogger Perez Hilton, who challenged Demi's defense.

"This isn't a headline for your readers. This is someone's life...why does it need to become everyone's business? If you believe someone needs help - help them."
