Héctor "Macho" Camacho is fighting for his life.

The former world lightweight boxing champion was critically injured Tuesday night in a shooting in his native Puerto Rico that left another man dead, Camacho's publicist confirms to E! News.

Camacho, 50, has been hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his jaw and doctors are not sure if he'll walk again, the rep says.

Police say Camacho was in the passenger seat of a Mustang outside of a bar in his hometown of Bayamón when another car pulled up and someone opened fire, killing the Mustang's driver, according to El Nuevo Herald, a Spanish-language newspaper based in Miami.

After retiring from the ring, Camacho appeared in 2010 on Univision's ¡Mira Quien Baila!, a Dancing With the Stars-type show, and then went on to provide commentary about the show on the entertainment program El Gordo y La Flaca

Camacho also posted just yesterday on Facebook a link to a clip from a reality show he's been filming.

Camacho's reputation took a blow last year, however, when he was charged with felony child abuse for allegedly roughing up his teenage son. The case is still pending in Orange County, Fla.

His rep says that his mother and other family members are flying to Puerto Rico to be with him.
