Eddie Murphy is passing the torch, y'all!

Actor Brandon T. Jackson has been tapped to play the son of Murphy's infamous Beverly Hills Cop character Axel Foley in CBS' small-screen reboot of the beloved franchise, Deadline reports.

Beverly Hills Cop will center on Aaron, Axel's blue-collar Detroit police officer son, and his fish-out-of-water efforts to take down criminals in Beverly Hills while living in his father's shadow. And yes, Murphy will reprise his role of Axel Foley in the pilot, and could potentially recur if the project goes to series.

Murphy will serve as an executive producer on the series, along with The Shield and Last Resort creator Shawn Ryan

Jackson, a standup comedian, is known for his breakout roles in Tropic Thunder and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.
