Is getting call from Shannen Doherty a matter of life and death?

Well, a 27-year-old New Jersey woman claimed it was, telling the Beverly Hills, 90210 star via Twitter that she would do something drastic if Doherty didn't call her.

Doherty, who was in California, did indeed pick up the phone—but it was to call the police.

Officers headed to the woman's home at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday after Doherty called to report that she had received strange messages from a female fan on Twitter and was concerned for her safety and well-being, a spokeswoman for the Westampton Township Police Department confirmed to E! News.

The woman had given Doherty her address.

When police arrived, they spoke to the woman, who was at home with family members, and found no signs that she had attempted to harm herself. She refused medical attention and said she had no wish to hurt herself.

"Thank you to the Westampton police department for being diligent and so reassuring," Doherty tweeted after the ordeal.

And to inquiring minds who wanted to know what she needed the police for, she added, "Thanks gang. Police wasn't for me, was a girl on here who needed their help."
