Throwback hair and makeup styles are making a resurgence on the red carpet, but there's nothing dated about the classic beauty looks we've spotted lately.
Kristen Stewart, Lucy Hale, Jessica Chastain, and Christian Serratos have all channeled Veronica Lake-like locks and lips for stunning glamour girl looks. But busy modern-day gals who don't think they have the time to pull off the iconic look needn't worry—a simple side part, sultry lips and few curls are all you really need to recreate the style.
We love that Stewart, at last night's Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere, added her own spin to the retro style. Like looser curls that were more in keeping with the trademark bedhead coif she sports off—and sometimes on—the red carpet. She added another modern update with berry lips, lining her pout with Laura Mercier lip liner in Crushed Berry and finishing off with Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lip Colour in La Sensuelle.
Shimmery gold and taupe shadows from Chanel's Quadra eyeshadow in Spices completed the look.
For a more literal take, Hale and Chastain styled their hair with deep side parts and cascading curls, and swept on bold red hues to create velvety lips. Short-haired gals should follow Serratos' lead and avoid severe side parts and pinning back one side of their hair.
