Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock won't be ascending to the U.S. Senate.

And plenty of Hollywood types are just fine with that.

After Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill hung on to beat Akin and Mourdock lost to conservative Indiana Democrat Joe Donnelly, celebs took to Twitter to further castigate the controversial candidates over remarks they made on the campaign trail regarding abortion and a woman's right to choose if she became pregnant as a result of rape.

Kristen Schaal: "The fact that Todd Akin even got 39% worries me about Missouri."

Piers Morgan: "Cheer up Todd Akin: if it's a legitimate loss, the body has a way of shutting it down.#Election #Senate"

Gabrielle Union: "Claire McCaskill really knows how to 'Shut that whole thing down'...meaning she beat the snot out of Todd Akin #Forward#Missouri"

Wanda Sykes: "That's what I'm talkin bout! Bye bye Akin and Mourdock! Women just gave you a legitimate beat down. It was God's will."

Alyssa Milano: "Akin! You're still an ignorant fool!"

John Hodgman"'@nealpollack: If women accidentally vote for Todd Akin, the voting machine has ways of expelling that vote.'//I am going to RT this 1000x"

AnnaLynne McCord: "Republican, six-term Tea Party backed Missouri Congressman Todd Akin who, during a live television interview, when asked about his views on rape and abortion said: 'If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.'"

Tichina Arnold: "Put an egg in your shoe & BEAT IT Todd akin !! Bye bye!"

Bill Maher: "Congrats Elizabeth Warren! And Scott Brown has that truck, so its no sweat moving. Sad for Richard Mourdock tho, turned out he wasn't viable"

Martha Plimpton: "See ya' Richard Mourdock. Guess it was God's will."

Dr. Jill Biden: "Richard Mourdock currently losing his Senate race is a gift from God. #Election2012"
