Since The X Factor doesn't leave much up to the artist (i.e. their choice of song, their choreography, the montages depicting their unfortunate lives back home with signs that say things like "Free Range Eggs" and "Gang Sign-Up Today At 3pm"), the judges must rely on the artists to let their own unique visions for themselves shine through.

But if your designated Aerosmith song isn't giving you enough of a put-on edge, there's no need to fret. Demi and Britney will create your vision for you! You just have to act like they've truly extracted your essence, and own it.

CECE FREY

Before her makeover, Cece struggled to relate to her audience, and for some reason applying leopard spots to her forehead with liquid eyeliner never quite did the trick.

See how the makeover Demi gave Cece made her way more approachable? Like you could just walk right up to her and say, "Hi! You have mustard under your eyes."

I'm not quite sure why Demi demanded that Paige shave her head, considering she ended up performing in a helmet made of stalagmites.

Her new look worked to communicate her metaphorical pain, as well as sending three of her back-up dancers to Urgent Care.

DIAMOND WHITE

Diamond White started out as a fresh new face, until the producers discovered they could sell a bunch of merchandise by having Diamond wear it all at once!

According to rumors, the hat was made in China.
