As if we didn't know already that Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan have great chemistry in The Great Gatsby, we caught up with Tobey Maguire last night for some more assurance.

"That is a very central relationship [in the movie]," Maguire said at the premiere of his latest flick, The Details. "I think it works really well. It's exciting."

In director Baz Luhrmann's new—and 3-D—adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, Maguire plays Nick Carraway with DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby and Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan. It was set for release on Christmas, but Warner Bros. announced last month it was being pushed to May 13.

And working with his longtime pal DiCaprio every day worked really well, too. "It was fantastic," Maguire said. "It was great. He's a great friend and a great actor, so I got to hang out with my buddy and be inspired by a great actor."

Things are a bit more racy in The Details (currently available on VOD and in theaters on Friday). Maguire and Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks play a suburban couple whose life is turned upside down when their backyard is destroyed by raccoons.

Maguire even shares some steamy screen time with the beautiful Kerry Washington. "It's always awful," Washington said about filming sex scenes. "Tobey's lovely, but that stuff is always strange to do. I loved working with him in all of the scenes where we talked, but the other stuff? It's awkward."

We could only imagine.
