Chelsea Hander Takes on Motherhood in Fun Size: Sexy, Dramatic and "Weird" Say Costars

Here's a Halloween shocker for you: In her upcoming film Fun Size, our very own Chelsea Handler plays a mom. With a teenage daughter (played by Nickelodeon's Victoria Justice). But the folks behind the comedic romp say only one person thought it was strange.

"Chelsea Handler thought we were crazy casting her as the mom of a teenager," producer Stephanie Savage, of Gossip Girl fame, told us on the orange carpet at last night's premiere. "But we convinced her that we did some math and it would probably be OK."

But if the Chelsea Lately hostess ever worried about pulling of the gig, she need not worry.

Chelsea's got her eye on football star Tim Tebowhear what she has to say!

"I didn't know what to expect. But she was a dream, she worked really hard, she gives a great performance in the movie that's funny and emotional," director Josh Schwartz (also of Gossip Girl fame). "And I don't think anyone's ever seen in this kind of role before. And she looks good as Britney Spears! She gives Britney a run for her money...Nice gams."

Schoolgirl outfits aren't the only sexy fun Chelsea gets to have in the movie though (you didn't think she was going to be a boring regular mother, did you?). She also gets to score some PDA with a gorgeous and perennially shirtless hunk played by Josh Pence.

Of the duo's romantic scenes, Pence claims, "They're like maybe uncomfortably, awkwardly funny-sexy. I think some of them actually might have wound up on the editing room floor because they were a little too sexy. The movie skews towards the younger crowd and I think some of our scenes were a little bit racy."

Now that's the Chelsea we know and love. And if you ask her movie kids, Victoria and Jackson Nicoll, how they feel about having the comedienne as their onscreen mama, Justice proclaims she's "just a great lady" while Nicholl, a man of many words, simply said: "Weird."

So she can play a mom, but could the comedian-turned-actress take on a really dramatic project? "The best kind of dramatic scenes, there's always a little bit of humor in there, that you're able to laugh at that pain. And she can walk that line," Schwartz told us. "One minute she's making you tear up and the next she's making you laugh…I think this is just beginning. She could do anything."

Fun Size is in theaters now.
