The mogul-cum-rabble-rouser stood behind his much-hyped "bombshell" offer to donate $5 million to charity if President Barack Obama releases copies of his college and passport records.
Speaking to Piers Morgan Wednesday night on CNN, Trump insisted that his offer was legit amid criticism that it was all simply part of a big media ploy.
"It's not a publicity stunt, it's a serious, very serious offer," Trump said on the show.
Of course, the 66-year-old master showman made sure to suitably, er, trump the mega moola, dangling it like candy to sweet-toothed trick-or-treaters.
"Here's $5 million, a tremendous amount of money," Trump said. "All he has to do is show some papers."
Despite Morgan's skepticism that Obama would bite, Trump begged to differ.
"I think he will do it," the Apprentice honcho said. "There will be nobody happier than me if I can sign that check."
Meanwhile, Obama managed to lob his own zinger at Trump. During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno Wednesday, he joked, "This all dates back to when we were growing up together in Kenya...We had constant run-ins on the soccer field."
The president also cracked, "He wasn't very good and resented it. When we finally moved to America, I thought it would be over."
Trump was swiftly and mercilessly mocked by the Twitterverse after making his announcement, with celebs both ripping and ribbing the mogul.
"I am giving Mr. Trump a 5pm deadline to deal w/the hair," quipped Andy Cohen, adding, "If Mitt Romney releases his tax returns by 5pm I will give him 5 million high fives."
We'll high-five to that.
