One great way to enjoy the first game of the 2012 World Series is by listening to a smooth singing voice belt out the National Anthem while strumming his guitar.

American Idol season 11 winner Phillips Phillips kicked off the Major League Baseball championship tonight in San Francisco as the Giants face the Detroit Tigers at home.

Pressure much?

Well, yes, but Phillips handled it like a pro, and gave a very sweet rendition of the National Anthem that the crowd seemed to thoroughly enjoy (judging by their roars).

Afterward, the singer tweeted, "Gaaaaaaahhhhh leeeeeeeee that was nerve racking!!"

Once the nerves settled down, Phillips got to enjoy the game like everyone else, and even shared a photo of his view with fans on Instagram, "Awesome! Let's go Giants! Gotta represent Buster Posey!"

The X Factor's Demi Lovato, New Girl's Zooey Deschanel and Glee's Matthew Morrison also are set to sing the anthem in the series.
