Clint Eastwood is getting political again—but this time there isn't a single chair in sight. The actor and director, who appeared at the Republican National Convention and sparked the meme "Eastwooding," threw his weight behind Mitt Romney once again in a campaign ad.
"For the last few years America's been knocked down," Clint explains in the clip for the "super PAC" American Crossroad. "When someone doesn't get the job done, you got to hold 'em accountable. Obama's second term would be a rerun of the first, and our country just couldn't survive that."
In a statement, Eastwood says, "I did the ad because I'm concerned for our country. I really believe Mitt Romney is the kind of leader we need right now. He's an experienced businessman, and he knows how to work with people to fix problems. It's time to give someone else a chance to fix our country."
President Barack Obama isn't lacking in small screen support though. Hollywood power player Harvey Weinstein will be recutting the upcoming SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden to better incorporate the involvement of the POTUS.
After acquiring the rights to the film, Weinstein, a longtime Obama supporter, decided to recut the film, the NY Times reported. The movie, which stars Cam Gigandet and chronicles the hunt for Osama bin Laden by the CIA and the Navy, will now feature additional news or documentary footage of Obama.
The movie airs on National Geographic Channel on Nov. 4., just two days before the election.
But while Weinstein's support for the president surely can be seen as a victory, another movie taking aim at the commander in chief will hit the air right before the election. And it's free of charge in some major battleground states.
Armstrong Utilities, a prominent cable provider in six states including neck-and-neck states like Ohio and Pennsylvania, will offer the anti-Obama documentary 2016: Obama's America as a "free movie special."
Though Armstrong is reported to be a donor to the GOP, an exec claims that there is no partisan agenda at play here but admits, "This is the first time the cable provider has offered such a deal for a recently released feature film."
