Gwyneth Paltrow launched the cape trend at the Oscars, but it was then followed by Dakota Fanning and now her little sis, Elle.

We're so thrilled to see summer's neon trend fade away that we're almost fine with its replacement: fall capes.

Well, OK, it's a cardi, but Elle Fanning is wearing it like a cape. So, we're calling it a cape.

Gwyneth Paltrow spearheaded this season's cape obsession, of course, because she's Gwynnie and launches everything from Prada's career to Cooking Turkeys the Gwyneth Way. (How she can keep a turkey warm with all that ice in her veins is beyond us.)

Then Alicia Keys wore a cape to the Givenchy show in Paris, followed by Elle's sister, Dakota Fanning, who not only threw on a cape to play Jane in the Twilight series but also wore one, on her own accord, by Miu Miu.

That was all before Elle touched down from her fairy cloud in this floral Rochas dress.

The cardi cape looks like it wants to strangle Elle and that's unfair, because, look—the girl didn't write We Bought a Zoo, she only starred in it. That movie is not her fault.

To be totally honest, we love this look on the actress, mature though it may be for a 14-year-old. Then again, fairies are immortal, right? Maybe this girl is actually older than we are.
