Pop & Politics Report: Romney (Might) Nab Coveted Lohan Vote, Obama Shoots for the Star Wars

This week in politics: Paul Ryan wore a backwards baseball cap and showed off his biceps.

And nothing else matters—because we cannot get enough of those pictures! But Mitt Romney and Barack Obama did some stuff too, we guess. Like earning an endorsement from The Parent Trap's Lindsay Lohan (Mitt) and a Star Wars Jedi warrior (Barack).

So now that the Vice Presidential candidates have duked it out in their debate, we're taking over, focusing on all those points where pop culture and politics collide. And, of course, deciding who's winning...well, for now at least.

Mitt Romney: Google Plus? Not Likely with Lohan Support

Sesame Street isn't the only family-friendly series that'll get nixed if Romney pulls the plug on PBS: Mr. Roger's, anyone? Or, if you're a Jimmy Fallon fan, it's Mr. Romney's Neighborhood, where kids can learn lessons about money, and every episode includes one puppet getting fired!

But who needs support from children when you can score the endorsement of a former child star, which Mitt was able to do when he locked down the LiLo vote. The tabloid starlet (who actually isn't registered to vote) abandoned Team Obama and went GOP to support "employment."

Shocked? Perhaps. But probably not as shocked as the little girl in the background of this amazing photo, which earned Mitt an apology from the AP for being too literal. No worries though, because there are tons of other Romney pics—just Google "completely wrong." It pulls up all Romney pics. Whoops!

See how Hollywood reacted to Joe Biden and Paul Ryan's debate!

Barack Obama: Star Wars Fans Know, He's Our Only Hope

Look alive, nerds, because the election is getting some input from the Millennium Falcon. Mark Hamill, who played the original Luke Skywalker, compared Obama to the "wise" Obi-Wan, saying, "He's got a sort of probably a cross between Obi-Wan and Yoda. Gosh. I so revere him."

But Star Wars isn't the only support Obama got this week. While Lohan may have hoped aboard the Romney train, super-awesome stars Lena Dunham and Neil Patrick Harris stepped out for Obama, both citing marriage equality as a significant factor.

And in a reverse win for the current Commander-in-Chief, he seems to have won use of Friday Night Light's catchphrase, "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose," when series creator Peter Berg sent Romney a cease-and-desist letter telling him that the Republican candidate's ideals did not line up with the cult classic's.

Oh, and if that wasn't enough love for the POTUS, he scored another invite to join John Stewart on The Daily Show, and Obama will return for the sixth time next Thursday, Oct. 18. Which might just give him a head start in next week's P&P Report.

The Verdict: Romney. Lohan is on the cover of every tabloid, so if she starts donning a "Romney 2012" pin that would be a ton of free publicity! Plus, who cares about Friday Night Lights when Mitt can just use a Mean Girls quote like, "It's not my fault you're, like, in love with me or something!"
