Here's a blonde, classic Hollywood siren with an Oscar under her belt and an ethereal mystique in her shadow.

Are we talking Nicole Kidman or Grace Kelly?

You'd be forgiven for doing a double-take.

The first on-set photos have surfaced from Kidman's ambitious new flick Grace of Monaco, in which the 45-year-old steps into the regal shoes of the Hollywood legend turned princess.

And judging from the images, which were taken while the production shot on location in Monaco, Kidman's got Kelly's fashionable flair down pat. The star can be seen glamming things up in a pale canary coat, pearls and wispy 'do reminiscent of the late screen legend.

The flick, which isn't a biopic per se, focuses on a six-month period in 1962 when the princess, still a newbie to royal duties and mores, helps save the city-state from a French coup.

It's certainly a daunting task for anyone (yes, Kidman included) to channel Grace Kelly. But the actress is in formidable hands: The film's director, Olivier Dahan, knows a thing of two about helming movies about real-life legends—he directed Marion Cotillard to a Best Actress Oscar as Edith Piaf in 2007's La vie en rose.

Could this foreshadow more Oscar hardware in Kidman's future? We'll have to wait awhile: Grace of Monaco doesn't hit theaters until 2014.
