Daniel Craig finally got his shot at comedy.
The 44-year-old Skyfall star, who's known for his dramatic and action-packed roles in the James Bond series and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time and did his best to bring on the funny.
Of course, it was another special guest who winged it best, as none other than Big Bird himself turned up on the show's Weekend Update segment.
"It's wonderful to be hosting Saturday Night Live," Craig said in his opening monologue. "I'm thrilled to be doing a comedy show because I love comedy. Lately I've been doing a lot of movies without a lot of laughs in them."
The James Bond thesp then went on to honor those he's killed onscreen in an "In Memoriam" tribute, while "What a Wonderful World" played in the background.
And then it was time for the show, and naturally, a James Bond skit.
In a fake promo about the lesser known "Bond Girls," Craig showed up to play an annoyed Bond alongside Lea Michele (Nasim Pedrad) in "Hippopotopussy," and then other "forgotten Bond girls" like Jodie Foster (Kate McKinnon) appeared in "Kill Me Once, Shame on You" and a golden Penny Marshall (Fred Armisen) was on hand for in "Quantum of Leap".
Craig also put on a Long Island accent for a parody of TLC's Long Island Medium, played an inappropriate and awkward construction worker and took on a touchy-feely boyfriend who couldn't keep his hands off of his ladylove Regine (Armisen).
A couple of Craig-less highlights from the show included the Presidential Debate cold open, the "MSNBC Debate Fall Out" and Big Bird making an appearance on "Weekend Update."
In the opening, Jason Sudeikis and Jay Pharoah reprised their roles as Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama, respectively, reenacting SNL's version of what went down in Wednesday's debate.
Basically, President Obama (Pharoah) was distracted by everything from his anniversary to Denver's altitude, Romney (Sudeikis) dished on his "41 basic element" plan that included "three outright lies," and moderator Jim Lehrer (former SNL cast member Chris Parnell) was just, well, shaken up.
The debate roast continued on the "MSNBC Debate Fall Out", in which Al Sharpton (Kenan Thompson) came up with theories for "Obama's debate disaster," like "Mitt Romney and Barack Obama switched bodies" and "Obama was poisoned by the altitude" in Denver.
Muse was also on hand to perform "Madness" and "Panic Station."
