The Lifetime movie chronicling the life and death of Anna Nicole Smith is coming together.

Private Practice star Agnes Bruckner has been cast as the late Playboy Playmate, while Oscar-winning actor Martin Landau will play oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall. The project, titled The Anna Nicole Story, also got a director today: American Psycho writer/director Mary Harron.

The TV movie will follow Smith's rise from a small-town girl in Texas to Guess jeans model and Playboy star, as well as depict her marriage to the then 89-year-old Marshall. Smith, who was also the star of E!'s first reality series, died in 2007.

Executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Smash, Chicago) along with Judith Verno and written by John Rice and Joe Batteer (Windtalkers), The Anna Nicole Story is set to start production in the next couple weeks.
