Another newsworthy wedding is in the works, and this time it's for GMA weather anchor Sam Champion!

The Good Morning America television personality is engaged to longtime boyfriend and Brazilian-born photographer Rubem Robierb. The New York Times broke the news of their engagement Friday, in a story about the wedding of MSNBC news anchor Thomas Roberts and Patrick Abner, which Champion attended with his partner Saturday in NYC.

"We're getting married New Year's Eve in Miami," the 51-year-old weather guru told The Times of his engagement to Rubem.

"We'll do it [in New York] officially, and then have a party in Miami," boyfriend Robierb added.

The two plan to wed later this year.

According to the Times report, Champion has never been shy regarding his sexuality in a private setting, but this is the first time he has publicly come out as gay. He and Robierb also shared their excitement after the story broke, telling ABC News: "We are thrilled and so excited and thank everyone for their good wishes."

The congratulations are certainly pouring in for the pair, with a noteworthy mention from GLAAD President Herndon Graddick: "Sam has been a good friend and longtime supporter of GLAAD, and we wish him and Rubem the absolute best," he said in a statement.

First Anderson Cooper, then Thomas Roberts and now Sam Champion?!

We're in full support of this coming-out trend. Congrats, you two!
