Chris Brown Breaks Up With Karrueche Tran, Blames "Friendship" With Rihanna

Pop star confirms his breakup with his model girlfriend as rumors of relationship with his ex swirl

Consider this the shocker we didn't see coming (sarcasm, people).

Chris Brown and his model girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, have split. Why? Well, we'll give you one Barbadian-infused guess…

"I have decided to be single to focus on my career," Brown tells E! News. "I love Karrueche very much, but I don't want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna. I'd rather be single, allowing us to both be happy in our lives."

Breezy announced the breakup just one day after reportedly cozying up with Rihanna Wednesday night at Jay-Z's NYC concert. Just one day earlier, the tempestuous duo were also caught making out at a Manhattan nightclub.

Although Brown is not confirming the rampant rumors that he and Ri-Ri are indeed back together, he is publicly admitting that the two have been hanging out.

The same night of the CB and Ri-Ri concert sighting, Breezy's now ex-girlfriend Karrueche posted a cryptic tweet simply consisting of "Bye Baby."

Brown remains on probation for his infamous 2009 beatdown of Rihanna. Last week, a judge refused to revoke Breezy's probation after the R&B star tested positive for marijuana.
