Lark Voorhies

Depending on whom you ask, Lark Voorhies either takes a while to come out of her shell or she's just a very spiritual person.

After an interview with People in which the former Saved by the Bell star mumbled, gave a series of incoherent statements and appeared to stare off into space, her mother announced that Voorhies has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a claim the actress has vigoriously denied.

"There are things that have traumatized her," Tricia Voorhies, 64, told the magazine regarding concerns about her 38-year-old daughter's mental health. "I care deeply about my daughter and I want her to resume her life."

But according to Lark, who shares a Pasadena home with her mother, nothing could be further from the truth, saying such concerns are simply the result of having an "over-loving" mom.

She told People that while she's not making headlines like some of her fellow Saved by the Bell alums like Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, she's doing just fine, earning a living acting in low-budget movies, recording music and self-publishing her own books.

As for that allegedly bizarre behavior, she added: "I have a strong spiritual sense. You caught me in moments of pray [sic]."

Lark's rep could not be reached for comment.

Voorhies, best known for playing Lisa Turtle in the hit '90s show, was previously married for eight years to actor-producer Miguel Coleman, whom she divorced in 2004 before moving in with her mother.
