It's not easy being famous—just ask Lindsay Lohan.

The 26-year-old actress was involved in an altercation early Sunday morning at the W Hotel in New York City. Her alleged attacker, Christian LaBella, was taken into police custody, then released with the charges against him dropped. NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne told E! News, however, that once "LaBella's initial assault arrest was voided, cross complaints [were filed] by Lohan and LaBella."

But LaBella, whose aunt Heather McDonald is a writer for Chelsea Handler's E! show, is no stranger to hanging out with celebrities. The Daily News grabbed several shots from LaBella's Facebook page (he deleted it shortly after he was released from custody) showing the 25-year-old from California posing alongside stars—including Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner—at various "celebrity events."

Republican Congressman John Shimkus of Illinois confirmed that LaBella had worked for his office, although a representative from his office said that "obviously, the congressman does not condone [LaBella's] actions."

Though NYPD determined that no crime had been committed and the charges were dropped, Lohan's rep Steve Honig told E! News the situation was "both distressing and outrageous…and there should be consequences for that."

According to police reports, LaBella had taken photos of Lohan while they were hanging out with friends. When the Mean Girls starlet saw this, she reportedly confronted him and tried to take his phone. When he resisted, Lohan alleged that things got physical and that LaBella choked her and threw her to the ground.

A Los Angeles City Attorney spokesperson told E! News Monday that "at this point, we have not receieved any police report from any authority so we cannot comment if we would pursue a probation violation" regarding Lohan.
