In an editorial for XO Jane, actor Taylor Negron, said Davis was a "Hollywood legend. A near saint. And a kind and loving mother to so many, including me."
A Texas native, "Cathy," as Negron affectionately referred to her, was a writer and a reader who loved parties, and was working on her own historical biography on the life of Phoebe Apperson Hearst, William Randolph Hearst's mother, when she was murdered.
Negron, known for his roles in The Last Boy Scout and The Hughleys, among other projects, said Davis had previously rented the house where the Sons of Anarchy star resided out to him, Parker Posey, Thomas Jane, Chris Parnell and many others, who referred to the home as the "Writer's Villa."
Val Kilmer had stayed in one of the home's rooms while Negron lived there and they had parties with George Clooney in the home.
Negron said he moved into the home in his early 20s, and that Davis told him the room he rented was "my room…always."
"The door was always open," he wrote.
Ironically, Davis had rented Negron's former room to Lewis.
Lewis was "released early from a sentence for armed robbery with a weapon," Negron wrote. "He called Cathy and asked if he could come home. I know what she said: 'Your room is waiting. I will leave the front door open for you.'"
