The engaged couple have been trying to justify their relationship the minute the cameras stopped rolling, after numerous rumors began swirling that their relationship was either under turmoil or totally fake.
Well, the duo are setting the record straight (again) and discussed their relationship with E! News at the San Diego Film Festival Wednesday night.
"We just try to laugh about it and not read it," Emily tells us of the tabloid stories. "I trust him, he trusts me, and that's really the bottom line. We always make a phone call to our parents and friends and say, 'That's not true," and at this point they're like, 'We know.'"
Jef adds, "The two biggest things are trust and communication when you're in a situation like we are."
And it looks like the trust and communication are there with these two. Holm says, "She's my best friend. We hang out together, we have fun. This is better than any relationship I've ever been in." Awww!
"We're not perfect by any means," Emily tells E! News, "but we're so happy. Most of our time, we spend it in Charlotte. So people there, they see us at the grocery store, and Target, and carpool, and they're like, 'OK this has to be legit.'"
As for that anticipated wedding ceremony—Maynard and Holms have set a date! Kinda. "We wanna probably do it the spring of next year. We're thinking May, maybe," Jef tells us.
We'll be waiting for our invitations.
