Fox's new sitcom centering on a brother-sister duo premiered tonight after New Girl and we'll be honest, it was kind of nice to have a break from romantic tension for change. (We're looking at you, New Girl's Nick and Jess!)
While we were charmed by the Nat Faxon and Dakota Johnson-starrer, we're curious to know what you thought of the new TV siblings on the comedy block...
From creator Dana Fox (aka one of our new girl-crushes!) comes this semi-autobiographical story of a brother and sister duo who raised each other. After getting pregnant shortly before her college graduation, Kate (Johnson) puts her life on hold to raise her young daughter Maddie (a super-cute Maggie Elizabeth Jones). Kate's life is thrown for a loop when her older brother Ben (Faxon) pops back into her life, bringing his irresponsibleness and harebrained schemes along with him.
While not all of the pilot's jokes quite landed for us, the cast is super charming and talented and the chemistry between Johnson and Faxon is completely believable. Both leads are endearing without being predictable, despite their seemingly cookie-cutter qualities. (She's sensible, he's a free-spirit!) Still, British actress Lucy Punch, playing Kate's ridiculously inappropriate best friend, stole the pilot for us. That make-up scene between BJ and Maddie may be one of our favorite moments from a new sitcom this fall.
