This week in politics: Barack Obama says "arrrgh!" to a pirate and Mitt Romney is watching Snooki's weight! Wait, what?!

OK, maybe these aren't exactly the points the White House hopefuls will debate when they pop up on some news outlet or another, which is why we're here to round up all the points where pop culture and politics merge.

And, of course, deciding who's winning...well, for now at least.

Barack Obama: Pirates, Parties and Pepper Pots!

No, the GOP isn't making Obama walk the plank. And he isn't mediating any Somalian pirate crises (at least, not that we know of), but the commander in chief did tweet some face time with an eye-patched pal.

"Arrr you in?" Obama tweeted to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and Fox News instantly attacked, accusing the president of prioritizing pirates and parrots over international politics. Well, the picture was taken years ago, so remember: It pays to Google.

The week also found Barack rubbing elbows with some of his biggest supporters. After appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman, Obama attended a fundraiser hosted by pals Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Across the pond, Gwyneth Paltrow hosted an Obama Victory Fund 2012 event in London with Cameron Diaz.

Mitt Romney: Secret Vids, Shore Life and The Simpsons!

Need we even remind you of the biggest Romney story of the week? Secretly recorded videos of the presidential hopeful talking rather, uh, bluntly about the 47 percent leaked online and left most who watched the videos with their mouths agape.

Not to worry, because Whoopi had plenty of words to fill that silence. Which means Mitt might want to avoid The View for the time being. Which could be why he and wife Ann chose to visit Live! with Kelly and Michael where talk turned to the Jersey Shore star: "I'm kind of a Snooki fan," Romney revealed. "Look how tiny she's gotten. She's lost weight..Just her sparkplug personality is kind of fun."

While he was endorsing a guidette from the Shore, Romney was getting an endorsement from Springfield in the form of The Simpsons' Homer, who decided to cast his vote for the man who "invented Obamacare." Uh, well, a vote's a vote.

The Verdict: All press is good press, right? If (if!) Romney can spin that old adage his way, we guess we'll hand him the gauntlet for the week. His leaked video certainly had everyone talking, after all. Plus, Snooki surely thinks he's a little cuter now.
