Smart move, Amanda Bynes.

Despite being ordered by a judge not to drive (she has a DUI charge and two counts of hit-and-run on her record), the 26-year-old actress continued to stir up trouble in the streets. But Monday afternoon, Bynes made the wise, law-abiding choice to catch a taxicab home from her shopping trip at Kin, a clothing boutique in L.A.

Wearing a long white Alexander Wang tanktop as a dress, a black leather jacket and black heels, the former Nickelodeon star tried to shield her face as she stepped into the blue taxi outside the store. (Her own car was impounded less than 24 hours earlier, after she was caught driving with a suspended license.)

An employee at Kin Los Angeles tells E! News Bynes was "really nice" when she came into their store Monday afternoon, adding that it "isn't unusual to have celebrity clients in here wanting to try on a lot of clothes" and that they thought Bynes was just a regular customer (as opposed to the headline-grabbing starlet du jour).

The employee also added that Bynes was in the dressing room "for a long time," but noted it was "not unusual."

"She was polite and respectful," the employee said, going on to say that the "only odd thing, really" was that Bynes didn't show them the material she was trying on. (Kin is a styling store, so this is something clients normally do.)

Girl wanted some privacy! That's legit.

Bynes also had the cab take her on a Starbucks run. An eyewitness tells E! that the actress spent about 10 minutes inside before leaving with an iced mocha, keeping her sunglasses on and her head down the whole time.

And despite her recent erratic behavior and run-ins with the law, Bynes has not checked into a rehab facility, contrary to reports.

Next up for Bynes? A judge has strongly advised the What a Girl Wants star to appear in court Friday on a hearing for her pending DUI charge.

We sure hope she shows up. And until then, taxis are fine, and a driver would be all that.
