Get ready for a very emotional Elena on the new season of Vampire Diaries.

With her newly minted fangs in place, Nina Dobrev says things are going be more "intense" than ever.

"Elena is a vampire now, so everything is heightened," the 23-year-old starlet told us at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Perks of Being a Wallflower. "If she steps on an ant and kills the ant, she freaks out and starts crying, or if somebody tells a joke, she starts laughing like a maniac. So all of her emotions are heightened."

She added, "It's not going to be easy. It's a very character-driven season. It's going to be really intense."

As is Perks of Being a Wallflower—but in a much more realistic way.

"It's a real depiction of high school," said Dobrev, who plays a high school senior hiding a dark secret about her relationship with her boyfriend. "It's not a sugar-coated Hollywood version. It's real kids, real experiences."
