For the first time in seven years, Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig are not spending the last days of summer preparing for a new season of Saturday Night Live.

As you know, the two will not be returning to SNL this year. But that doesn't mean it's easy getting used to not being "live from New York" anymore.

"I miss it a lot," Samberg, 34, told me yesterday at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Hotel Transylvania at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

He said he's been in touch with his former castmates and is finding himself thinking about their upcoming sketches, "I would have loved to have been there for that."

Samberg also said he "has no idea" if he'll make any guest appearances on the show. "I hope so," he said. "That would be really fun."

Shortly after announcing he was leaving in June, Samberg told us, "I felt like it was my time. I talked to a lot of friends about it—a lot of friends who have been on the show. Me and Kristen talked about it a lot. I just came to that point."

Wiig, 39, is also trying to adjust to the big change. "It's hard," she said at the TIFF premiere of Imogene, her comedy with Annette Bening and Darren Criss. "It's really hard."

In May, the Bridesmaids Oscar-nominee told Alec Baldwin on his Here's the Thing podcast, "You have to leave things that you love."

But quitting the show comes with some great benefits. Samberg beamed, "I took a three-week vacation for the first time in like five years!"
