Katie Holmes appears to have already kicked her breakup drama to the curb.

"I have a lot of feelings about the press," she admitted to Women's Wear Daily when asked what it's like having the media follow her every move—a level of scrutiny that multipled exponentially when she filed for divorce from Tom Cruise.

But she added, There are a lot of people with much bigger problems and who are less fortunate. I try to keep it all in perspective."

It helps, of course, that Holmes happens to have so much going on right now, including the first presentation of her collaborative label, Holmes & Yang, during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week next Wednesday, her new deal as cosmetics titan Bobbi Brown's first-ever celebrity spokeswoman and her upcoming role in the comedy Dead Accounts, opening on Broadway Nov. 29.

"I think both film and stage are so challenging, but in different ways," she said of her return to the theater after appearing in All My Sons in 2008. "With film, yeah, you have another take, but a lot of the time you're losing the light, so you better nail it on that take. I haven't found any part of acting to be easy."

And, in case you haven't seen pictures attesting to the fact, she's a very doting mother to 6-year-old Suri Cruise.

The budding fashionista will indeed be starting school in New York City soon (the press seems to have narrowed it down to either Convent of the Sacred Heart or Avenues, both private), but all Holmes would confirm is that we will all "find out in due time" where Suri's going to matriculate.

Though she hasn't exactly been a shrinking violet this summer, Holmes made her first public appearance since her divorce last night at the Style Awards, one of the precursor events heading into Fashion Week, which officially kicked off today.

"We've been very gradual from the beginning, and part of that has been because we've wanted to take the time to get to know the business, get to know the right stores—and, most importantly, to get to know the customer and what she needs," Holmes said of her clothing line with business partner Jeanne Yang.

"In terms of the presentation versus the show, we felt a presentation was more appropriate for the clothes we sell. It's a little more our speed in the way we wanted to go about it, and more of a transition for us from meeting privately with buyers in a hotel room to going right to a big show."

And aside from an as-yet-untitled drama costarring William Hurt and Allison Janney that comes out next year, Holmes' big-screen acting schedule is open. Or, as she might put it, brimming with possibilities.

"As an actress looking for new characters that have something to say," Holmes said, "I always try to find projects that have a purpose and a message, and a real character—someone who either is flawed in a way we feel accessible to them or as a character you go to the movies and want to be."
