Everything is still connected in Cloud Atlas—just in a much shorter version than the original five-minute mega-trailer that blew our minds back in July.

Warner Bros. has unveiled the latest teaser for the new film codirected by Andy and Lana Wachowski and Tom Tykwer.

And by the looks of it, the six interweaving plotlines featuring the likes of Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent and Susan Sarandon among others traversing the centuries and exotic locales has been condensed into a more streamlined preview of what the The Matrix brain trust and Run Lola Run helmer have in mind.

Cloud Atlas revealed: what The Matrix mindtrusts' movie trailer means

As the previous trailer indicated, Cloud Atlas mashes up a variety of film genres with actors playing multiple roles to tell an original tale based on the 2004 book of the same name by David Mitchell. The flick explores how we as humans are bound to one another throughout the past, present and future and how a single act of kindness can ripple through the generations and inspire a revolution.

To that end, the ambitious story jumps around: 19th-century adventure set on the high seas, to 1930s-era drama about a composer, to 1970s crime thriller, to modern-day romance, to science fiction mindbender taking place in a futuristic Korea, to a post-apocalyptic tale set in Hawaii.

Think of it as the Wachowskis and Tykwer's stab at an epic statement on life—but less Tree of Life and The Fountain, and more comic book-style romp through time and space.

Take a look back at Tom Hanks' greatest films

While the new teaser brings the time periods into sharper focus, one notable omission from the previous five-minute opus is French electronica duo M83's "Outro" composition, which wowed us the first time around. Now if only they'd excise Hanks' crazy blond hairdo.

Cloud Atlas hits theaters on Oct. 26.
